Temperature measurement of a tire during high speed rotation

While there are various means of transportation such as ship, airplane, and freight train, the most typical one may be automobile including trucks. Performance of not only engine but also of tire is becoming a major factor for improvement of safety traveling performance including low fuel consumption and economy. While people have been aware of close relationships between the difference of tire pattern and travel performance, it has been impossible to measure temperature of tire surface accurately during high speed rotation unless a synchronous signal unit or that sort is used.
Now by the combination of TVS-8000, with its ultra high sensitivity and electronic shutter function, and a realtime recorder having the capability to continuously record and playback images at the rate of 60 frames per second, thermal image analysis of a high speed rotating object has become possible for the first time. Rapid temperature change caused by friction between tire and ground can be recorded, played back and analyzed as clear still images. As you will see in the images below, tire temperature which changes drastically from low speed to high speed is captured as images clearly. Even at the high rotational speed of 100km per hour, tread pattern of tire is captured as a clear image with almost no distortion.
This feature can be effectively used not only for tire development but also for temperature analysis of high speed moving objects or rotation objects.
